Here’s a quick guide to the most common stainless steel surface finishes without color, especially relevant when selecting or customizing tile edge trims:

2B/silver matt

Finished by heat treatment , picking or equipvalent cold rolling , followed by skin pass to obtain adequate luster surface.

With bright and smooth surface ,easy for further grinding to obtain brighter surface ,suitable for trims that are not exposed or are to be coated or painted. Common in industrial or utility areas, and can be used as a base for further polishing.medical instruments ,milk containers ,tableware and so on.

Produced through bright heat treatment after cold rolling, resulting in a bright, reflective surface that is smoother than 2B but not quite mirror-like.
Application:
Perfect for visible tile trim profiles used in kitchens, bathrooms, or areas requiring a clean, hygienic look.

NO.3/NO.4/Satin

These are brushed finishes polished with abrasive belts (typically grit 150–240), giving a soft, satin-like look. No.4 is more refined than No.3.
Application:
Commonly used for decorative stainless steel trims in residential and commercial interiors due to their modern and low-glare appearance.

Hairline/Brushed

A linear finish achieved by polishing with finer abrasive belts, creating continuous, fine streaks along the length of the material.
Application:
Popular for premium wall edge trims, especially in elevators, lobbies, and modern architectural spaces. It hides scratches well and adds texture.

6K/8K/Mirror/Shiny

A highly reflective, mirror-like surface obtained by polishing with increasingly finer abrasives and extensive buffing until all lines are removed. 6K offers a semi-mirror effect, while 8K is a true mirror.
Application:
Ideal for high-end decorative trims used at building entrances, columns, reception counters, and luxury interiors where aesthetics are critical.
